  The problem with Blade is that her whole thing is that she, a drag queen, really wants a labrys-- a weapon that represents lesbianism and can only be summoned by a lesbian from their sacred pussy or whatever-- and she cannot procure one herself, so she tricks a &quot;real&quot; lesbian and tries to STEAL it, only to be killed by the same weapon. The fact that the labrys is used as TERF symbol turns this whole sequence into something that looks like a very overt anti-trans political comic. It&apos;s easy to see why a lot of people are viewing that as a beat-you-over-the-head transphobic message. <br><br>Personally, I strongly believe that they genuinely did this on accident, because writing in a transphobic allegory would require the writers to pull off or understand allegory. I think that the creators truly intended to be really woke with this and genuinely did not see that they were doing something analagous to like, accidentally making your business logo a big swastika. If it was any other piece of media I&apos;d never defend their intentions but I truly think that the creators of this thing are so incapable of pulling off an actual message that I don&apos;t think they&apos;d be ABLE to write a legible anti-trans metaphor if they wanted to. Based on their inability to write any themes or messages of any other kind throughout this film.<br><br>Some trans people I know irl found the stuff with Blade to be uncomfortable for them, and interpreted it as mean-spirited, taking what seems like a very obvious and overt bigoted message at face value. And that&apos;s super understandable because if it was intentional, it&apos;s not subtle. <br><br>The creators have said they were trying to reclaim the labrys symbol. I think they just did a really bad job of this and wound up just animating a hate crime on accident.
