  The Thomas / Laskar game; I prefer the final move that was played, not the castling, as mate was given by a piece not involved previously and which didn’t even need to move. &nbsp;Super elegant.

  Morphy was self taught. He didn’t have the state sponsoring and training him nor the use of computers to help him. In terms of pure natural talent, he is arguably the GOAT, but Mian Sultan Khan also has a good case as the best ever—he learned a particular version of chess in his native Punjab where the queen was underpowered and pawn moves were restricted. In 1926 a wealthy benefactor noticed his talent for local chess and hired him as part of his staff. &nbsp;Khan’s benefactor hired English chess experts to tech him modern chess to Mr Khan who could not read English so they taught him verbally and manually. He therefore couldn’t rely on book theory nor opening lines and usually he ceded slight advantages in the opening. He arrived in England from his native Punjab (then part of India) in 1929 and won the British championship 3 times, beginning in 1929! He only played modern chess from 1929-1933, retiring in 1933! During that span he defeated Capablanca, Alekhine, Euwe, Rubinstein, Marshall, and Tartakower. In terms of obstacles Mr Khan had to overcome, his theoretical disadvantage, and beating such illustrious competition in such a short time, is he the best natural talent ever to play the game?
