People love the granny square because it is so much fun and can be used in so many ways. I made a granny square chicken for a friend and it was the hit of the day with her family. People laughing, talking and happy goofing around. How can that be bad?

I don't understand how anyone can legally trademark the wheat stitch. Hasn't Laerke at Fibre Tales been designing things with this stitch for years?

I crochet for charity also. The name of mine is called Lovingly Looped and we also have a program called "Bear Hug" that supplies traumatized children a crochet bear to hug for comfort. Currently I am making my first ever virus shawl and adore it's classic look. Most of the blankets I make for the Lovingly Looped program are in fact granny squares. They work up quick and are still a beautiful blanket.

Mother Bear Project’s website says they are closed down and did not accept bears after 5/31/2025. Project Linus, Binky Patrol, Knots of Love, Warm Up America, and Little Lighthouse are organizations that request and distribute handmade products.

Big ol' CAUTION on the red hats: if made in acrylics or wools, they are WINTER HATS! With a modicum of pattern modification, you can use cotton yarn, but its still not a hat for warm/hot weather.<br>Thank you for including the pattern, but i am sitting on inventory that may or may not sell, and I'm in MN!

I tried several times to do the wheat stitch. Never was able to do it and I’ve been crocheting for 20 years.

Granny squares have evolved SO much I don't understand the dislike. New yarns, new colors, new patterns...these aren't your grandma's scratchy wool or acrylic squares!<br>I've made several Impkins, great book!!! A star blanket, several hexi cardigans, a granny square chicken, scrap totes. I love scrap projects but somehow the scraps are always multiplying. lol

I love the granny stitch because it’s easy and so customizable. I’m working on a long granny square cardigan. My kids said I looked like I came out of the 70’s when I was trying it on. Which was a huge compliment since I wanted to have a vintage feel. Also they said they wanted one.
