The biggest difference between a Mini and any other car is the stupid grin that shows up on your face when you drive one, the grin gets bigger and better the more you drive, sadly the same can not be said for your passengers.

From an old bike rider . Norton motorbike was a great bike but it broke down and you put a tray underneath it to catch the oil . Along came Honda always started never leaked , was faster and better in every way and was cheaper , so every bike after that was Japanese. Cars suffered the same problem .

"If there ain't oil under them, there is not oil in them" Great quote from Mater about British Cars.

Why can't England make a television? Because you can't make a TV leak oil.

An excellent and informative video.
Throughout the 70's, my father of blessed memory worked at Automotive Products (The Lockheed), and had many occasions to visit car plants, in the UK, in Western Europe and in Japan.
For him, British Leyland was the bottom of the pile (The Japanese and Swedish manufacturers were the top of the pile). At BL, he said, the management and the unions were permanently locked in civil war, where class prejudice (from both sides)and bloody-mindness (also from both sides) were the order of the day.

And yes, I remember the drip trays in BL showrooms. About which my father commented that our German-made Ford Taunus, even after a number of years on the road could be parked on our sitting-room carpet.

That was a very enjoyable video. It brought back memories of my 1963 Mini Cooper S that I bought in 1966. So much fun was had with that car that I bought two more [damaged] Minis and took them apart and sold part for a few years. I was in school and needed the extra income.

I get a warm feeling every time I see a Mini. And, no, the Minis built by BMW don't count although they aren't bad cars.

As an old bike rider myself, I remember those Nortons well. Great bikes, but you always seemed to need something underneath to catch the oil!

I used to have a blue one with a Union Jack painted on the roof when I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters in the late 80"s, the most fun vehicle I ever owned, was like a go-kart with a roof

The first time on YouTube the blame is properly laid at Britain declaring war on Germany and running up massive debts with US Bankers which had to be repaid and that ruined Britain. The last lend lease instalment was repaid in 2006.

I had a grey Truck version of it. 545 TUR. I can remember that little truck but can't even list the 20 or so cars I've had since. At one time the starter motor packed up, but I lick up on a hill so started it by pushing it off, jumping in and putting it in to gear. It worked for months. Then it snowed!
