Catch the Wind is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Timeless.

I met Donovan several times, I can't remember if it was in the late 90's or early 2000's, he introduced me to his wife, Linda and signed 3 LP's and a CD for me which I still have. We had conversations about the 60's and I found both he and his wife very pleasant to talk to.

I was born in ‘54. Started playing guitar in ‘63 and still do. I LOVED Sunshine Superman and Hurdy Gurdy man, along with There is a Mountain, Lalanya, J Juniper… on and on. I worked in instrument retail off and on and in 1984 got a call from a venue about Donovan wanting to rent a certain model guitar. I thought “yeah, right”. I responded with “I can’t deliver, so send him over”. 15 minutes later, he walks in! Alone. No security/assistant; just him. I trained myself long ago not to appear star struck so I stayed cool. I REALLY wanted to tell him how much I loved his stuff, but… well. Anyway, I showed him 2 ES-175’s (model he desired) but he didn’t like either one, so he split! He was VERY nice, casual, and looked much younger than he should have.. DAMN! No autograph, no photo…zip. I’ve met quite a few big names, but THIS time I regret not being an enthusiastic fan. Live and learn….. Hey Donovan! Superman or Green Lantern ain’t got nothin’ on you!

I love Donovan. He taught me how to float. I had an ancient silver cottonwood tree in my Northeast Seattle childhood back yard that perfectly echoed the vinyl "Donovan's Greatest Hits" album photography of a like, bare-branched tree. Lying on my back, looking up at my own tree, was, to my mind, transcendental. Years later, I saw him at the Seattle Center Opera House (pre-renovation) during one of Seattle's earlier Memorial Day weekend Folklife festivals. A bucket list experience to be sure. Thanks Johnny!

Donovan is often fun and sweet in a way Dylan rarely is. He's himself.

I fell in love with Donovan when I was just 12 yrs old. I bought everything he ever recorded and was loyal to every concert he did in my city. I have several favorite songs, so picking out one would be tough. From a flower to a garden was one of my favorite albums until Cosmic Wheels, 7 tease, and Donovan White Album. Overall, Wear Your Love Like Heaven is my favorite of all.

I’ve always thought Donovan has been underrated. His music ranged from folk to psychedelia to Indian, to jazz — who else has such an eclectic compendium? I love to this day his “a gift from a flower to a garden.”
