Personally, I think the immediate post-Beatles period of Paul's life is the key to understanding Paul as a person and his entire career going forward. Paul always seemed to be "on the run"... It was always the next thing, the next thing, the next thing... and this was the one time he just sat still for a moment... I often feel like his entire life from this point was a constant desire to never sit still too long with his demons again. Thank goodness Linda saw him through it.

This is the first time I've heard that Mick actually called John to tell him to stay away from Klein..

From everything I’ve read and heard, it was Paul who was the glue which held The Beatles together as long as they were.

I'm so glad Paul said, because it was the phukking truth. Everyone was doing "their own thing" and Big Beatle John was big mad that he didn't do it first. When I looked at the time line when every Beatle "left the band", it was Ringo, George and John. Paul was the last to officially leave but the first one to publicly announce it. It was like he ripped a band-aid off really fast. John did all this crap with Yoko in tow, and Paul got the blame when was the one who was holding it down the whole time. 😡

With how fractured the relationship among the four lads were, the Eastmans really should've handled the legal matters more carefully than what they did, especially since they set up a deal where it mostly favored Paul compared to John, George and Ringo.

It was bad enough that the other three have been fed up with Paul, both personal and business-wise, but that deal set by his in-laws (Paul himself was caught off guard by it) completely added to their distrust with him.

RAM is a masterpiece, best post Beatles album and overall career. He’s the goat.

Interesting that Paul went through such a period of depression, but it never really came out in his music in a dark blues or anything. That kind of gives you perspective on where Paul's mind would go when he wrote songs. Oom-Pah-Pah?

This story is brutal.

The only thing I can personally add is that I became friends with Allen Klein's wife after she divorced Klein. She was very nice, sweet - thoughtful. And very interested in learning how to make a home movie, possibly with commercial intentions, exploring 'what is love'. Something I thought was very revealing about her and her ex husband's life together. Ie: love-less.
