  Yes, however the whole idea behind keeping spoilers secret is that you can always watch or read again, this time knowing what is to come, but you can only ever once experience it freshly, without knowing how things will go. And that remains valuable even if a bit overhyped

  A writing foreshadowing future events or plain telling the author a future event to build anticipation is not a spoiler. A spoiler is getting information outside of the basic summary of the story unwillingly prior to the author's intended place when that information would be shared. Starting a story a day after most of the events happened and then going back is not a spoiler that the characters you saw living through the event as that was the authors intention. Telling someone that there is a killer in Psycho is not a spoiler, but telling them who the killer is or who dies and when is a spoiler.

  I think the problem is that the word &quot;spoiler&quot; lost its meaning. &nbsp;A spoiler used to be knowledge that fundamentally changes how you experience a major reveal or twist. &nbsp;Knowing how &quot;The Sixth Sense&quot; ends robs you of the mind-blowing moment of revelation that comes from seeing it the first time. &nbsp;It &quot;spoils&quot; a reveal that recontextualizes how the film is viewed. &nbsp;You are effectively robbed of a key aspect of the first time viewing experience. &nbsp;Yes, you still get the benefits of a second viewing, but something has been lost, and if someone told you that without your consent, they have, in effect, spoiled part of the experience. &nbsp;<br>Knowing that X character dies or /how/ X character dies, in many cases, does not actually spoil the viewing experience at all, and can in some cases, like you describe, enhance it. &nbsp;I don&apos;t think the problem is the culture around spoilers, I think the problem is that the definition has lost its meaning

  That theory of spoilers being good is also a huge part of the AO3 tags system. When you click on a fanfic with &quot;hurt no comfort&quot; or a &quot;major character death&quot; tags, you know exactly what you will get but not always how the story will get there.

  I generally like your stuff but in this case, I think the concept of a &quot;spoiler&quot; is being confused. &nbsp;What most people refer to as &quot;spoilers&quot; are hearing about a story second hand from someone who&apos;s already seen it, or details that have been leaked outside the narrative of the media in question. &nbsp;I don&apos;t know if you&apos;ve ever played a Dark Pictures Anthology game before, but games like Man of Medan and Little Hope have events in them that will likely surprise the player and give them a new lens through which they can view the events of the game. &nbsp;It&apos;s possible to figure both out through your first play through, which in itself is rewarding, but if you don&apos;t and you discover the answer later, it&apos;s a pretty shocking and fun moment. &nbsp;They&apos;re short games, so you can go back through and replay them now with an understanding of what&apos;s really happening and get almost a completely different experience because you now understand the truth. &nbsp;Having said truths spoiled for you by someone outside the narrative would 100% lessen that first impact, or ruin the thrill of discovery if you would be able to put the clues together yourself.<br><br>What you&apos;re referring to as &quot;spoilers&quot; I would describe more as a form of foreshadowing. &nbsp;It&apos;s the way the author/filmmaker/whatever INTENDS their audience to experience their work. &nbsp;Having someone else tell you that Romeo and Juliet die even outside the context of the play isn&apos;t a &quot;spoiler&quot; because the same information is revealed in the play. &nbsp;Having someone else tell you that SPOILERS<br><br><br><br><br><br><br>Mercutio dies<br><br><br><br><br><br><br>END OF SPOILERS...well, THAT isn&apos;t supposed to be something you go in with. &nbsp;Based on your previous videos, this is a difference I feel like you know very well, so I can only assume this was done for click bait reasons.

  I agree. I got into Metal Gear because I casually was shown the ending fight of 4, and I just had to understand why these two old dudes were fighting. Turns out it doesn&apos;t make more sense but it&apos;s damn entertaining.

  The whole time I was thinking about the movie Apollo 13. My dad was almost 9 when it happened. He knew they made it safely, but he didn’t know what happened. But the movie had him thinking, “how did make it? How did it anyone survive this?” Then, he reached a point where he started thinking, “do I remember right? Did they make it?”
