  I had a guinea pig that would squeak softly when she had to go to the bathroom.  RIP Rusty.  I still miss your company after all these years.

  Our piggies have gotten to the stage where they come to our hands &amp; walk on, ready to go out &amp; &nbsp;have garden time (they know the word &quot;garden&quot; too &amp; will start chattering their teeth on anticipation every time I say it). <br>They don&apos;t much like the transition of being lifted from cage to cuddle but are happy on either side of that moment.<br>They&apos;re very clever little animals - they understand several words &amp; use their own sounds to communicate different requests/ needs/ moods.<br><br>Edit: it took several months, and we had lots of floor time where they could just climb over us &amp; get used to us interacting with them.

  Regarding the pee dance, my piggies have always been so considerate!!!<br>but my soul piggy, Bobby, in particular LOVED me. More than anyone ever has. He hated being put back in his cage, so he would eat his poop right out of his own booty before it would drop on me so that I would hold him longer 🤣he would stay on me for 30-40 minutes at a time if I&apos;d let him, and I&apos;d have to pay attention to the feel of his insides and my knowledge of his normal bladder timing to make sure he went back in and didn&apos;t give himself a bladder infection lol. He&apos;d just complain so much and try to jump back into my arms if he felt like our time wasn&apos;t over.<br>I miss him so much 😭

  Mine wriggle when they want a wee. One of mine didn&apos;t trust me for 4 years, &nbsp; but the reward when he finally did was so special ❤

  Too many people expect prey animals to be as comfortable as dogs and cats in wanting pets and snuggles. Most rodents do not want to sit and be petted for a long time. My hamsters will tolerate strokes and pets for a few minutes at most, a little longer if they are eating a treat, and then they want down for play and exploring. Very important to get your animal comfortable with being handled for health reasons. My vet is surprised how easy my hamsters are to hold for examinations because I pick them up for play time outside of their enclosure so getting out is fun for them.

  My guinea pigs hate the act of being picked up but when I pick them up they are more out going afterwards! Great reminder Scotty!

  My senior piggy Fluffy pulls on my shirt to let me know that he wants to go back or to pee, he’s 6 years old.

  It is so rewarding when they finally do trust you, because then they actually want to spend time with you. &nbsp;My piggie Nova, who sadly just passed away =( was 7 years old, and shortly before he died, it was like he knew; and all he wanted was for me to hold him. &nbsp;Having a prey animal trust you that much is incredible and its worth the effort. &nbsp;Having him want to pass away while I held him is simultaneously heartbreaking and endearing as to the heartwarming nature of these animals.<br><br>Nova was slow to trust, he was almost 4 when he first let me pet his nose without running away; but then it was like he finally gave in. &nbsp;The last 3 years of his life he was always at the cage climbing and asking for pets and treats. &nbsp;<br><br>Don&apos;t put a time limit on your piggie&apos;s trust. &nbsp;Some pigs will trust you in one month, some may never trust you. &nbsp;They have their own personalities! Its what makes them so special.

  Good video Scott, clear explanations. &nbsp;In over 30 years as a piggy carer I have very rarely been pee&apos;d on and 9/10 out of ten when there was an &apos;accident&apos; it was my fault for not picking up on the cue, or I was distracted and told them to wait, but they couldn&apos;t. They pretty much always tell you they need to return home to go to the toilet, even those strange to me, such as those in rescue centres, petting zoos or those owned by acquaintances. &nbsp;Each piggy chooses their own signal so it is important for us humans to learn that and respond rapidly. &nbsp;One of the most endearing signals was the piggy used to turn towards my face, climb up my chest and do a nose bump. &nbsp;She chose that method herself. &nbsp;Another used to grab my watch strap and tug it. &nbsp;Others do a couple of tugs on a sleeve, but if I am bare arm&apos;d, lightly catch hold of a fold of skin and pull it gently upwards, then release. &nbsp;A few of the less bright ones just do a rump wiggle whilst opening their eyes wide with an expression that indicates they are desperate for a pee!

  Wonderful video Scotty. So often, people expect guinea pigs to &quot;warm&quot; up to them so quickly, when it actually takes a lot of time and patience. I have two girls currently and both are very polite about giving us a warning when they need to have a pee, thankfully, LOL.
