Americans doesn't take food home from restaurants just to get home and throw it away. If that's the case, it would be left on the restaurant table. We eat the food we take home, at least I do and every American I know.

If we ask the waiter for a doggie bag to take home, the rest of our food we dont throw it out when we get home because what would be the sense of that
Obviously, he asked the wrong American about this.

Paying the sales tax, shows you exactly what you pay in tax. Its not snuck in on the price that you never see.

We like sales tax added at the end, tbh. We want to see how much tax our govt is taking from us in taxes. We think of it as transparency, not a trick. Plus, with 50 states with all different tax laws, it's impossible to roll a standard tax into a purchase like other countries do.

In regards to sales tax the Aussie said something about it being sneaky to add the tax on at the register. One reason we do this is not sneakiiness it's because we want to be aware of how much we are being taxed for things. If the tax is lumped in with the price on the tag I could be being charged goodness knows how much for taxes. Remember that back when the US was still British colonies the British were taxing the colonies without giving them any representation in government in England. We were not cool with that arrangement - paying taxes with no say in the matter whatsoever. We like to know what we are being taxed for things so that if we disagree we can take action against it. Additionally, sales tax varies state to state as stated in the video but sales tax also can vary county to county and local area to local area which makes it kinda complicated.
