  People say that Rent a Girlfriend is shoujo?<br>A pox on all of their houses. I have never been more offended in my life. Rent a Girlfriend wishes it was a shoujo.

  this honestly pisses me off so much, i was watching an anime podcast once where the guy mentioned 3 shonen romance as shoujo manga. do your job right for the love of god

  it’s really aggravating to me how people are so quick to insult shojo as a demographic without even checking if the so called shojos they hate are shojo or not. majority of shojo manga don’t hit the 100 chapter mark to begin with, and all of the so called shojo series people complain about when it comes to stretching the will-they-won’t-they act like komi, nisekoi, and rent a girlfriend are shonen

  To be honest, I&apos;m not really surprised this is a discussion. People don&apos;t understand that a female can be the protagonist of a Shonen, or that a male can be the protagonist of a Shojo.<br><br>Both can have romance stories; they can be different, but at the same time, they can be the same.

  What&apos;s kind of hilarious is that BL is a shoujo subgenre, and it&apos;s wildly popular. It&apos;s not the subject that matters, it&apos;s the way it&apos;s narrated. A scifi shoujo body horror is not a scifi shounen body horror.<br>Edit: in comparison to the usual idea that shoujo is a weak seller I mean.

  This is just how all media created for women or by women is treated regardless of what form it takes. Romcoms are &quot;chick flicks&quot;, The Hunger Games (written by a woman) gets reduced to its love triangle, shoujo is for people with bad taste, etc. In the end it just comes down to misogyny.
