  Everyone, we can end this now if we collectively stop buying new cars. Just hold off a few years, inflict financial penalty to all manufacturers bottomline because they are so willing to fleece us in such an agregous way.

  My dad, who always drove Cadillacs, once told my Grandad, who always drove Chevys that he should trade up to a Cadillac with power windows. My grandad, always practical, said &quot;I spec I can just reach over and roll the windows up&quot;. <br>He would find new cars completely incomprehensible at every level; overpriced, overly complicated, wretched excess. And the idea of paying a monthly fee to keep it functioning would be utter stupidity.

  Stop buying new cars. Let them sit on dealership lots to rust. They cannot survive without us. It&apos;s time we all take a stand against our corporate overlords.

  Some time ago, I think it was Progressive Insurance that first came out with a device that would track your driving methods in exchange for a discount in rates. I knew at the time that they would eventually use that collected data to increase or cancel insurance if they saw something they didn’t like. I was totally against my car spying on me. Fast forward to today, and ALL cars will be spying on us and selling that data to third parties. We’ve GOT to stop this diabolical plan to treat car ownership like home ownership — another purchase that we never really owe thanks to property taxes.
