USD 2 million is the price of an ordinary 2–3 bedroom apartment in Gangnam, but the place you visited first is much more expensive than that. And there are even pricier homes on the hillside Hannam between Namsan and Itaewon.

I am Korean. South Korea is a nation where the majority is sacrificed for the sake of the few. Yet, even the sacrificing majority remains trapped in the rationale: 'You must accept this sacrifice, because that elite minority brings global glory to Korea and upholds our collective honor.'
Historically, lacking natural resources and surviving on barren land, Korea operated this way in virtually every domain. In modern times, funneling national resources into massive conglomerates (chaebols) and prioritizing elite sports clearly reflect this ingrained pattern.
Although the vast majority of ordinary citizens struggle financially, this societal structure uses the ultra-wealthy few as the global face of the nation—artificially saving the 'face' (a deeply Confucian concept of che-myeon) of even impoverished Koreans. To me, this is a truly tragic and miserable reality.

If you have money i do not think you should show it off. The truly rich do not feel the need to show off their money.

The money in Hannam is crazy - the net worth of the people there, like you said is multimillion and Koreans LOVE to show it off with designer clothes, super cars, etc. One guy I know there is has 2 roll royces, lambo, and many other cars, yet he does not drive them, since he has a driver - its crazy. There are also many kdrama actors and kpop stars that live there. But you are right, can't take any of that stuff with you.

In Korea, the neighborhoods where super rich people live aren't necessarily the ones with the most expensive cars. Because real estate is so expensive, you can often find many luxury cars in areas where housing prices are relatively low. People spend less on their homes and buy nice cars instead. The areas where the truly wealthy live are places that foreigners rarely visit. The rich generally do not prefer neighborhoods with foreign embassies or large expat communities.

Like the way, he highlights/narrates the poor and rich sections, food prices, shopping malls, fair comments, etc. His videos are very interesting to follow. and there are lots. A nice and decent utuber.

Unlike monopolistic companies in other countries, the conglomerates you mentioned (like Samsung and Hyundai) often have ownership families holding only a small percentage like 5% of shares. The majority is owned by the general public, financial institutions, and foreign investors, who all share in the dividends. In that sense, it’s somewhat better. If there are illegal management practices, the chaebol chairmen often end up in prison. And this is a country that has also sent many presidents to jail.”
