  Being the preferred parent is exhausting! I wish my son would go to daddy instead of me sometimes.

  I'm up at 3am listening to this because my 1 year old woke up crying at night and won't be consoled till her daddy came and took over from me. I'm heartbroken. I fet so inadequate as a mom. My husband is always the calm and collected one, I'm the fiery impulsive one with bad judgement. Of course he is a better parent than me. My baby is smart to go to him. I'm oddly proud of her judgement for one so young as I wallow in self pity. I guess these are all just stories I spun up from my baby feeling comforted by her dad tonight and not me. Well this conversation comforted me. It makes sense I feel this way. I allow myself to feel this way, and I can cope. I think I'll go back to sleep now.

  Dr. B, this is all wonderful, and you have made it truly personal to the individual with whom you are speaking. I was also wondering how you would describe these moments from the child's perspective. As you said, you have a lot more to say. I wonder if going to the other parent, especially in moments of distress (or of boundary-setting with one parent), could be really, truly valuable for the child. They still have a person who is "on their side" so to speak. Does this make sense? It's not an against you moment, at times, but a "I need something from the other" moment (?).

  I am exhausted. All I hear all day is "mama, mama, mama, MAMA, MAMA!!!" Every single phrase starts with "mama" every other word is "mama" & everything ends with "mama." Her dad is feeling jealous. I don't know what to do. She's 2! She always goes back & forth, but right now she's stuck on me. I know it'll change back to him,  but he gets upset with both of us bc I'm currently the preferred parent. I'm also always with her. I sleep with her, I wake up with her, I put her down for naps 8 out of 10 times. I make her meals & eat with her. I beg him to give me an hour alone, but he can't seem to find time.

  came to this video for support as a doting, devoted, full-time dad. quickly became clear this is yet another "parenting" podcast hellbent on marginalizing the experiences and needs of the exact types of fathers that these women claim to celebrate.
