  Paizo really did capture the feel of old school DnD. I've completely lost faith in DnD.

  I bought the pathfinder 1e book. It was a big tome  (two in one). But fixed many small gripes in the 3.5 ruleset, cleared it up, had a great consistent art style with its own dungeon punk style. It was a home run really. It was perfect. People loved 3.5, and 4e was too different, with unrecognisable art style.

  I had always wanted to own the D&amp;D 3.5 books but couldn&apos;t get my hands on them; it wasn&apos;t until I was an adult—during the pandemic—that I finally had the chance...<br>Pathfinder 1E books were affordable, so I picked up the collection of rulebooks (Core, Mastery, Bestiaries, Advanced, Ultimate...).<br>Today, I own several modules, campaign settings, and player supplements; and yes, I also managed to get hold of some D&amp;D 3.5 books.<br>Pathfinder 1E is the main game I run. 3.5 is still alive!

  Another key reason for the success of Pathfinder was its Beginner Box. That certainly got me at the time. There was so much in it, including advice and tools for new GMs to build their own adventures - especially but not exclusively in Dungeons.

  I remember when all this happened. Many who came fourth before shit hit the fan were villified till it came to light and became a actual reality. I watched a lot of Roll For Combat during this time. It brought players to my online pathfinder game. DnD Refugees welcome was one of the tags I used for my game.

  My group and I were extensive Beta testers for Pathfinder. &nbsp;Many years later, PF (now 2nd edition) remains our go-to ruleset.
