Technically, Nosferatu is a Dracula ripoff.

The dirst Nosferatu silent film was supposed to be a Dracula movie, except Bram Stroker's wife didn't want to give her concent or blessing. They wound up making the movie anyway and just changed the names of everyone and all the places and the title of the movie. She sued, the judge ruled in her favor, and all copies of the film was destroyed at her behest.

Fortunately, there were a few dozen copies that managed to make it out into the world. This allowing us to enjoy the film and now it's 'remakes'.

You aren't supposed to get the "know" Count Orlock as a character. He is pure evil, the monster with no humanity left. That's it. All we need to know is how he affects his victims.

Man, if Robert Eggars ever tackles a H.P. Lovecraft piece, he'll fulfill dreams of deep-rooted fans of period horror. He's so good at making period and folk horror. However, cosmic horror may not be his wheelhouse. Who knows?

I went to see this last night. Someone tried to tell me that this was a love story. This wasn't a love story, it was about a stalker.

Old illustrations of The Count (Vlad or Dracula) show him with a mustache & long hair, so this is actually more accurate . Great film!

The original movie was in the 1920’s, a remake in the 1970’s, now a second remake in the 2020’s. I guess we get a Nosferatu movies every 50 years… can’t wait for the third remake in the 2070’s lol

Fun Fact, In the Dracula novel (In which Nosferatu is based off of), Jonathan does go to a Transylvanian village and in the book, Dracula has been terrorizing the village for so long that the village is truly on the brink of a nervous breakdown and when Jonathan gets there, they're all pressing crosses into a hands and trying to warm him in Romanian, but because Jonathan is clueless and doesn't understand then, he's just like "Wow, everyone in this strung out village is so nice to me... Welp, time to sell a house to the creepy guy in the creepy castle overlooking the traumatized village!"
