  It's crazy that people talk about how media can influence people's judgement today, in reality its been happening for centuries just look at Marie Antoinette the papers influenced the public view on her.

  Just a quick fact check:<br><br>Graffiti was put up on the walls around Paris saying &quot;Anybody cheering the king will be whipped, those booing the king will be hanged&quot; so the royal family were brought back to Paris with people lining the streets in absolute silence, not jeers.<br><br>It&apos;s a small detail, but its my favourite because it conveys just how chilling the whole thing was

  So wait. She was forcibly married against her will in a foreign country that was falling apart , away from her family who she missed dearly and couldn&apos;t visit, to a bearly fertile dunce. Damn. Then she lost two children, couldn&apos;t bare a male hair and then when her time had come she apologized for stepping on her executioners shoes. This poor poor lady. I misjudged her

  Marie literally fighting to protect her son...tragic. I do believe she loved her kids, so the slow destruction of her family must have been torturous.

  Her last words were “Pardon me sir, I did not do it on purpose.” After she stepped on the <i>executioners</i> shoe. Marie Antoinette has a very unfair life and I think she only had good intentions. Except the people around her manipulated her and caused her downfall.

  Let’s be honest: The king really messed up. They probably could have safely left France if they’d been a bit smarter and a lot less obsessed with luxury. Who stocks their escape carriage with treasure? Their extended family outside the country was already rich.

  They didnt have to do her like that, but at same time Marie and her husband were too hard headed. How in the hell will you escape with a chest of wine, worry about that shit when you are safe Mamie

  After hearing her husband was guillotined, she mourned her husband which later deteriorated her health.

  This is honestly a very sad story. She did have problems and was not the best monarch, but she was a bride from a country that had recently been the enemy so was not welcomed easily with open arms by the French. Then when crowned Queen she and Louis XVI inherited much of the issues that they were blamed for. On top of not being prepared and having a bad council with poor advice, its no wonder these two faced such a sad and chaotic ending. I dont want to romanticize the situation or say they were blameless, but it wasn’t all completely they’re fault. And thinking about all the starving people in France is also heartbreaking. The french revolution was always more powerful of a message to me than that of the American revolution. Sure it was the first and sparked many others, but we were fighting for financial freedom. Not because we were starving and dying from simply being too poor. In fact we were rather wealthy and had access to a lot of resources that Europe didn’t have, thats why England wanted to keep us so bad. History is so powerful and unfortunately tends to repeat itself. Love your channel and the education you provide for so many! Learning history, I would argue, is one of the most important subjects to understand. Great video! Thanks!

  This ordeal shows how power is ultimately in the hands of the common people if they&apos;re determined enough to want change. Marie didn&apos;t deserve to die, but she definitely wasn&apos;t an upstanding queen. The royal family was trying to keep up a lavish lifestyle while the kingdom suffered greatly and was on its last leg. Understandably, the people of France were beyond fed up. I feel like the most respectable monarchs are the ones who make an attempt to understand the commoners&apos; plights instead of only looking out for their own interests.

  I love how much you focused on her role as a mother bc she truly was a devoted mother. Her story is a classic case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time and how society turned her into a scapegoat.
