so she was wearing white for her innocence, but once she caused bloodshed through witchcraft, she then wore red and was running off with a broom as a witch I'd say? Nicely done!

What an absolutely beautiful child...and holy cow, what an actress. She went from innocent and very childlike to stone-cold with one slap...just such good acting.

The look on her face after her dad hit her and the following expressions were so impressive - I kind of felt proud of her for looking and standing up against him. Elle est courageuse 🖤

It's funny how he didn't want or need his wife when she needed him but needed her when he was in trouble and dying. Telling his daughter to " call your mom."

Her character changed throughout the film. She was influenced by the negative and hostile energy towards her. If the child had received the love she deserved, she would'nt have harmed her dad. She was retaliating. It's sadly the usual parent-child dynamic in society. I thoroughly enjoyed this!

Edit: Just realized the metaphor in the end, her father pierced her heart (figuratively speaking) So she cast a spell on him and pierced his heart...

I loved this! So haunting and visually stunning. Even without the warts, this household was a freak show of dysfunction. When her father slapped her, I knew it was the beginning of the end. The way she started to cast the spell by smearing his hate hit all over her body was one of the most intense things I’ve ever seen. The ritualistic dance she did was raw, animalistic and absolutely enchanting. Excellent. I have never…

Wow that was very well done. And very captivating. A child doing witchcraft - very disturbing. Also a commentary on how parents may do whatever they want without thinking of the effects their actions have on their children. Great work!

my thoughts on this... gabriel is the girls' father but colette is salomé's mother and joséphine is rose's. he might have gotten both of them pregnant at the same time and they decided to live together and raise the girls together as a family but there is a lot of jealousy from colette and she knows gabriel favours joséphine over her. all of this is impacting the girls, especially salomé because she's also dealing with the wart infection and her father is treating her like he doesn't want to have anything to do with her, constantly reminding her of being ugly and infectious and contagious. and then she snaps. and she's taking the advice of the doctor literally but not towards the wart but towards her father. so she uses the beef heart as a voodoo doll. very sinister and dark. that may be the beginning of her witchcraft career, taking revenge on everyone that will do her wrong in her future life.
