DISCLAIMER!! I made a mistake and didn’t know that using biodegradable castile soap directly in natural water sources is against Leave No Trace principles. Please use it at least 200 feet away from water and scatter wastewater in the dirt to minimize impact. I’m so sorry for sharing incorrect and potentially harmful information. I will do better next time. Visit LNT.org to familiarize yourself with Leave No Trace Principles (I will be doing this as well 🤦🏼♀️)

It's so nice to see a gear video from someone who isn't preaching ultra light. Way to carry a few luxury items and enjoy them while out hiking! Great videos! Thanks for sharing!

I too have found a Kindle to be a nice companion. Not only can it carry an entire library of ebooks, but I loaded a notes app, which means I don't need a separate notebook and pen for journal entries and you can load out anything you can find or convert to jpg or PDF format. So I load out trail guides and maps, etc.

Crosby is right — Leukotape is the duct tape of the athletic world. I hoard 4–5 rolls because everything around me keeps breaking: my knee, my bike, tv remotes, my faith in mankind. If Leukotape ever goes out of stock, I’m screwed in ways even therapy can't fix. 😮😜

You can easily clean up sap with alcohol-based hand sanitizer! Just rub it in, dissolves sap in seconds.

I got CoolMax toe socks from Amazon after getting massive blisters on my first backpacking trip. I was 100% one of the people who thought toe socks were gimicky, but now I don't hike without them. I wear them in my everyday life, too, because I wear work boots a lot. I also recommend trying on your shoes with the toe socks if you're going to wear them. I have to get an extra half size bigger with the extra fabric in between my toes.

I also wear the baleaf hiking pants for work. They're great for climbing all over equipment and doing inspections, and if I ruin them, they're inexpensive to replace.

If you get the adapter for the Sawyer so you can attach it to the clean bottle and tie a loop of thin paracord to the top of your bag, you can hang it from a branch stub and let it filter via gravity. I hang it and am able to do something else.

Get Lambswool for blisters and to prevent them. just weave them between your toes and you will be surprised at how good it works.

Diva Cup is a brand, the general term is menstrual cup. I prefer the brand Saalt. The shape of their cup is much more comfortable IMO. There are also discs which work a bit differently but can be more comfortable than cups for some people.
