Max quoting himself during the Cloud trailer is peak humor, holy shit. Even the inflections were on-point.

Cute reference: Lucas lives in the Nowhere Islands in Mother 3. Hence, "Lucas comes out of Nowhere!"

"Ridley's too big, he'll never make it"
"Bayonetta's too sexy, she'll never make it"
"Sora's too much of a hassle, he'll never make it"
Team Dream's Come True.

The Mii trailer makes me realize just how special Iwata's presidency was, I mean, that kind of stuff never happened before, and it's probably never gonna happen again.

What's important to remember is that when these trailers were first revealed, they didn't have the Smash logo in the beginning so it was actually a surprise mid trailer that it was Smash in the first place.

Corrin wasn't too surprising because, if you can believe it, there actually WAS a precedent for a character from an unreleased Fire Emblem game being added to Smash in order to promote the new game.

Roy was added to Melee about 4 months BEFORE Fire Emblem 6 was released in Japan. I believe Sakurai even admitted to not really knowing what to do with him as a character. Even trying to differentiate him from Marth by having him deal more damage by hitting FURTHER from the tip of his sword, despite his actual in-game animations showing him almost always doing the exact opposite.

I remember being bummed that Cloud didn't get a CG trailer, but Sephiroth's made up for it.

Love how he's like "Mewtwo is a great reveal" then shits on Lucas & Roy for being returning characters.

The fact that Palutena literally just said "Screw you pit, this is my fight now" and just sent him straight into the sky is hilarious to me

While the initial Villager trailer is pretty standard, it did introduce the concept of the "Smash Invitation", which has gone on to become one of the most iconic images in gaming. Credit where credit is due haha.

Max still has the World Record speed run for finding out it was Cloud in the reveal
