Even if the drunk teenager who fell asleep on the beach in the opening scene had been awake, what could he have done?

He wouldn't have been able to do anything to save her.

The reporter is played by Peter Benchley, the writer of Jaws.

Quint's monologue was about a real event involving the USS Indianapolis. It was historically one of the worst mass shark attacks documented. You can find plenty of documentaries about it.

Quint’s story about the USS Indianapolis is real and there’s actually a movie about it too. It’s called USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage with Nicolas Cage. It covers the true events he’s talking about. No spoilers here but it’s honestly a really good movie. You should react to it sometime especially if you liked that scene with Quint in Jaws.

Greetings. Saw this in the theater when it was new with my nephew. My mom dropped us off then picked us up later. Maybe we were tougher than.

Ignore the rude people. There's ALWAYS someone who had to comment that you shouldn't talk on a reaction in almost every video I've seen. They either don't know or don't care that if the reactor just sits silent and doesn't remark on the show enough it gets flagged by youtube and taken down or a strike.
