  One part of this conversation really stands out to me. Stephen Walt says that if he were China, he would also want the United States farther away from his borders and would want greater security in Asia.<br><br>But then he argues that the U.S. should prevent China from achieving the same kind of regional security America enjoys in the Western Hemisphere.<br><br>Can the U.S. realistically ask China to accept limits on its regional influence that Washington would never accept for itself?

  US only permits China to rise if there are more benefits to the US. &nbsp;US wants to make money on the back of the Chinese people. &nbsp;If the Chinese work and earn to eat their own meals that is not good for the US. &nbsp;US believes the &nbsp;Chinese people exist only to serve the Americans and cannot have their own mind.<br>When GM sold more cars in China than in the US that was the model the Americans want. &nbsp;Americans cannot allow a single Chinese EV sold in the US without slapping a 100%V tariff. &nbsp;That is the American interpretation of democracy.

  China will do what is best for China and the Chinese. Walt forgets China&apos;s past and the &apos;century of humiliation,&apos; where western powers, including the US and Japan, plundered China. One strong element in China&apos;s governance is to never let that happen again. &nbsp;It sees the US as the leader in colonial imperialist forces and direction.<br><br>If democracy is the governance of the will of the people, China beats the US hands down. Surveys and polls show the Chinese people believe in their governance and the direction it is leading. &nbsp;The Chinese favors its government with ratings over 90%, the US is consistently below 60% and at times below 50%.

  America&apos;s elites actually wanted China to be a low-value economy and only basically produce low-quality goods for them and the West,,When CHINA started to move up the industry value chain, the West then started labeling China as a security threat and started containing China&apos;s progress.
