  The more time I spend with these Panameras, the more I’m becoming fond of them. What do you think?

  Having owned two Porsches with this same Audi VW 3.0 TDI (CTBA) engine at different mileages, I honestly wouldn’t recommend this engine in a Porsche. They’re super expensive to maintain and it just seems like the bills keep on coming. While you can cross-reference some parts with Audi/VW, the labour and overall cost of working on them still adds up very quickly as they are packed so tightly. Across my two cars, I’ve had the crankshaft pulley fail, EGR cooler seals fail, injector seals fail, brittle plastic cooling system components fail, transmission flywheel issues, significant carbon buildup throughout the intake which chokes the engine, PCV failure and plenty of other smaller issues. They also have issues with timing chains on the earlier models and the chain is at the back so it is an engine out job. <br><br>What frustrates me most is that I ignored my initial feeling about this engine when I sold my first Cayenne. I had it first in a 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel with 90,000 km and, despite that experience, went back to the same engine in my 2017 Porsche Macan S Diesel. In hindsight, I really wish I’d gone for the 3.6 V6 or the V8. Just some genuine real-world feedback from someone who has actually owned two of them.

  Worth considering the Audi A7 bitdi, shares components with the Panamera, with the bonus of 5 seats. They also have 320BHP 😅great video ❤

  Personally, I think it is a beautiful looking car, thoughtfully designed and driver focused they produce a precision driving experience - when it all works

  There is a tail light mod where the rear quarters and lights are replaced by a light bar which makes it look a lot better

  The 3.0 tdi - amazing engine when it works but i know of 2 major issues to look out for. 1 timing chain rattle on start up ( chains are at the back on the gearbox side - minimum of a 4k job- can start around 70k if your unlucky ) 2 water leaks into the valley ( the inside of your v of your engine ) most of the electrics are here and you&apos;ll have a very bad day - ruined my bosses wiring loom which then shorted out his gearbox ecu - car was sat in work for 6 months haha

  I always think that era of Porsche centre console is inspired by Nokia phones, which now is looking a tad dated. However, I’m gonna be looking for a replacement for my 127k mile 987 Cayman in the next 6 months or so, and this Panamera would make a somewhat left field choice , food for thought 😊

  On the market for a facelift one currently, simply because they are such amazing value for money. But in my humble opinion they need to be in a dark colour, look classy.

  They are a very underrated but unfortunate looking car, but like you say very spec dependent . &nbsp;I still think for this price point an XJ is obscenely good value for money.
