  I wired up a balanced contact mic a few months ago and it's brilliant! Such a better signal. One of the things I did was to join the two disks wired side to wired sides facing each other and used a bit of glue gun glue to join them. There needs to be just a bit of air gap between them. Afterwards you can cover it in Plastidip and you've got yourself a hydrophone.

  Nice video! I have one very important remark. I think you inverted the pinout of the female 1/4 inch jack! The ring, which is the inside part, is supposed to be negative. The tip, which is on the outside, is positive. Same for the part where you solder it.<br>Maybe I&apos;m wrong though, but I soldered a bunch of these this week so I had to double check each of them. Best check it with a multimeter!

  Fantastic stuff. I really like your clear explanation style - very well made indeed!<br><br>For several years I’ve been performing/recording/filming things on a punch-card music box, which I mounted onto a wooden box to give it some resonance. But I just had to record the whole thing with a microphone placed nearby. This will be the perfect project - upgrading it to have a built-in pickup and an instrument jack on the side! Looking forward to the next instalment.
