Summer at the Cabin | Chicks, Mushroom Hunting & Netting Whitefish

May 29th 2026 - August 2nd 2026 We welcome dozens of baby chicks to our flock to replenish our aging birds in early June and as summer starts to warm up we head out to a recent burn to hunt for morels - much to our surprise we gathered several gallons to enjoy fresh and dry for storage. With the garden in full swing there is endless harvesting to keep up with not to mention the weeds. We preserve as much produce as we can to eat during the winter months but don't forget to whip up homecooked meals as often as we area able. The Can-Am gets a few modifications for the upcoming hunting season and we work on lighting up the house to help with the dark cabin. The last adventure takes us to a local river where we try setting nets for the first time. Camping and pulling up Whitefish was a nice way to wind down into the late summer.
