  The only fact that it has an electric tape eraser head &quot;and not a permanent magnet one&quot; makes the boom-box better than the 95% of the trash out there.

  Because of this teardown video, I will save up some money specifically for this model of Curtis boombox. I am so impressed by the build quality and attention to detail that I have to purchase a unit for myself. I do have proper working vintage boombox units and hifi tape decks from the 70s - 80s, that I&apos;ve restored and love. But this modern Curtis model would be a lovely &quot;daily driver&quot; unit that I could see myself use and abuse a lot without worrying about brittle plastic and daily wear and tear. I&apos;m completely sold and I just have to get one now! This teardown video, and the previous unboxing &amp; review one are first class advertisement. We are rewind should link to them.   I used to be an Engineering Manager for one of the big U.K. consumer electronics stores, I can’t believe they are using the same tapeI deck (apart from the erase head), that was in the cheapest of the cheap own brand radio cassette players over £30 years ago I used to fix hundred of the, due to them chewing up tapes, back them.

  Very impressive build. &nbsp;I wish they had a heavier flywheel and thicker belt. &nbsp;But this works as well. &nbsp;I don&apos;t think I will put thousands of hours of use as I would on my Nakamichi. &nbsp;But wow! &nbsp;what a beautiful kit. I will buy it

  Thanks for the teardown, just what I&apos;ve been looking for. One nitpick, though: Speakers don&apos;t &quot;have&quot; Watts, and the specs of the speakers say nothing about the abilities of the amp (which is what counts).
