Why You Forget What You Study (Even After Hours)

Why do you forget what you study, even after hours of work? It's not your intelligence. Here's how to study effectively with five research-backed methods: active recall, spaced repetition, interleaving, the Feynman technique, and chunking. This video covers five laws of learning drawn from decades of memory research. It starts with the difference between storage strength and retrieval strength, and it explains why the fluency illusion makes rereading feel effective. You'll see how retrieval practice (active recall) and spaced repetition build memory that lasts, and what happened when interleaving was tested in real math classrooms. It also covers the Feynman technique for finding exactly what you don't understand, why the learning styles idea has little evidence behind it, and how chunking explains why some people seem to absorb information so quickly. The video also frames fast learning as "not mainly" innate, not as having no innate component.
