Some people have pointed out that bunglesome does not interact with magic resistance, a feature that gives advantage to saving throws against magic and spells. That is an oversight on my part. To remedy that, I made a variant version of bunglesome that still works with a monster's magic resistance.

Optional Variant: Bunglesome creatures, instead of giving advantage to those making saving throws, subtract their spell save DC by 5.

What’s interesting is in the 5.5 playtest, they had exhaustion affect your Save DC but it was removed. Hmmm, I wonder why wizards would do that?

Playing through dungeons of drackkenheim (bad at spelling) and they got a good number of new conditions I really like. They have a condition called Bewildered and it prevents spell casters from casting anything greater than a cantrip. Martials have a similar one called Staggered where it essentially disabled extra attack. They also got stuff like Helpless (attacks that land against the creature are auto crits) and Shocked which causes creatures to drop whatever they are holding (think weapons or maybe spell casting focus) and it now takes an action to pick up.

Its a good campaign

There is one secret condition that debuffs casters and does not debuff martials: unable to speak.
It only really happens underwater or in the effect of the silence spell, but it does exist.

I do think the biggest difficulty with bunglesome specifically is that it nerfs spells that inflict effects more so than damage spells. As usually, if you hold person someone, its all or nothing, and with fireball, if you fireball a crowd of goblins, they are all cooked, probably regardless of if they pass the save or not.

I will say, advantage on saves for half damage spells is still less of a debuff to the caster than disadvantage on attacks for a martial due to the caster still being able to at least a bit of damage (plus there’s the whole half on a save not being too much of a damage decrease)

I like the idea of bunglesome, as someone who tends to roll poorly I do feel quite unpunished by conditions with my save spells as a wizard. However, I would suggest maybe playing around more with the niche cases of it for some conditions. For example, I don't think bunglesome should necessarily apply to spells without somatic or material components while restrained or grappled, just like how being silenced doesn't stop you from casting spells without verbal components. However, it should definitely still apply if you're poisoned or exhausted.

Spell Resistance also totally negated spells' effects on that target; Bunglesome doesn't actually stop save-for-half stuff, or a spell with partial effects separate from the saving throw result.
