You obviously have connection to the outside world, and Vietnam is no longer a closed country. I find it difficult to believe you have not found a fella that A you can put up with, B treats you as the wonderful person you are, C is comfortable living in a manner comfortable/comforting to you.

If you paper the walls again you should do it from top to bottom which you'll find much easier as you don't have to hold it up so you'll have two hands to position it.
