  I feel like any discussion of Hyrule&apos;s food economy is incomplete without touching on the banana trade. Mighty bananas are found in abundance throughout Faron, and are convenient to transport northward due to their heat tolerance as a tropical fruit. Better yet, cooking with them increases hylians&apos; strength in combat, reducing the risks of foraging for additional, more diverse food. It&apos;s therefore little surprise that about 14% of Hyrule&apos;s calorie intake is estimated to be fulfilled by bananas.<br><br>Glory to Master Kohga.

  I was under the impression that the teapots are for making Hyrule herbal tea with all those Hyrule herbs that grow everywhere. I doubt they drink literal tea.

  I&apos;m pretty sure foraging isn&apos;t an issue outside of the games. The monsters only spawn and remain while Ganon&apos;s influence does. On top of it, elemental fire, lightning, and ice seems to be endemic to BotW/TotK, so I can definitely see ice rods and swords being packed in with food as improvised refrigeration

  I think two considerations<br>1) The gorons eat rocks<br>2) The zora (i think) eat fish, and definitely have the infrastructure to sustain it for a small population

  I feel like we’re forgetting the many stables found all across Hyrule. Most stables have at least a few farm animals kept in pens, most likely sold to travelling traders to be carted off to the next village. What’s more, every single stables has a dog, which could be used to help with hunting and foraging if trained correctly. I also want to touch briefly on keeping the ingredients’ freshness longer- one way to do it would be to transport any sort of meat while it’s still alive. Another way would be to ice it, as previously stated, and it’s not like Hyrule in general is lacking in the ice department. Hateno village in particular lies fairly close to an ice covered mountain I’m sure the villagers could make use of. There are other methods you could use, like smoking meats, drying or pickling vegetables and fruits, and other stuff like that. I’m not an expert on food economies or anything but I feel like these are all viable options, and any fresh foods Link manages to purchase in the game can be explained away as foraging the villagers did or other fresh game that’s been caught and displayed

  Considering Hyrule was overpreparing for this big war and whatnot, I would not be surprised if they stashed tons of grains, rice, butter, oil, and other things that could realistically last longer in storage in food caches. Since most of the population died anyway in the calamity, whatever is in the cache could feed the population for awhile. As for the tea, maybe the king decreed that there had to be tea stashes everywhere because the royal family liked their tea or something, so tea is no longer being made but there are huge piles of it somewhere.

  Here&apos;s the secret to having enough food in Hyrule. First, set up some kind of pantry. This can be behind a door that Link is incapable of opening in game. You can also set up a stall if you want to sell food, with spots for all the sorts of food you want to sell. You do not have to stock the pantry or the food stall. You just have to have an idea about what you want it to contain. Second, wait for a blood moon. Now, your stall has the full inventory you want to sell and your pantry is fully stocked. Just make sure that your pantry is stocked with enough things that will keep until the next blood moon to keep you from starving. Also keep in mind that while your fellow townsfolk might browse your food stall, the only one physically capable of purchasing any of your goods is Link himself. So make sure that whatever you&apos;re selling is something that will interest Link specifically. Don&apos;t both selling apples or basic meat or the like, because that&apos;s easy for Link to find elsewhere. Also hope that Link isn&apos;t doing some speedrun where he&apos;s just running immediately to save the world without purchasing anything. If you&apos;re lucky Link is going for 100% completion and you can sell something that can&apos;t be found out in the world and is needed for recipes, like milk or sugarcane. Also hope that your Link isn&apos;t going to be doing crazy things like running into shrines before the blood moon can hit, or your pantry might start to wear thin. Also remember, milk might keep for only two hours at room temperature, but it keeps indefinitely at inventory temperature. Link&apos;s probably got milk that&apos;s months old at this point, and it still works just as well as any milk he might buy fresh from a Hateno farm.<br><br>Also, try to get over the existential crisis you have at realizing that the entirety of the very laws of physics of your entire universe revolve around one twink and he can change nature itself just by stepping into a shrine. Really, you have it a lot better than some other folks where Link can change the seasons or the weather or the wind at his whim. Just accept it and work on some static dialogue that will make Link feel guilty if he doesn&apos;t buy your supply of sugarcane.
