I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say the Gorons with a phsyology that allows them to consume solid stone probably are naturally resistant smog, heavy metals, and toxic gases. They might even thrive in this enviroment.

The water is poison, the air is poison...Death Mountain is really living up to its name.

You make me wanna develop a game where the environment is extremely well researched and subtly impacts character health.

Just a nitpick, but the 'smoke' coming out of nuclear reactors at 34:05 is entirely water vapor. Sure, you don't want to breathe in hot steam, but it's not toxic.

You mentioned the Gloom being a recent development, but it might also be worth noting that it's also temporary.
The people know full-well that Gloom is poisoning them, that's the whole impetus for the story to happen.
When link kills Ganon at the end, the Gloom is destroyed and the air quality should go back to normal.

First the water, now the air.
Next steps would be earth and fire

I highly doubt the number of livestock present in Hateno could impact that much of the entire town. It’s not like they have 100+ cows in a huge complex for mass dairy production.

Feel so charming watching these videos analyzing the environment of Zelda. Please make more of them.
