As someone who is literally bombarded with ad slop everywhere I turn seemingly every moment of the day, I’ve passed beyond simple exhaustion to a visceral hatred of anything relating to marketing and the marketing industry. I am so freaking sick and damn tired of seeing ads everywhere. Not intending this an insult to anyone here or the video creator, I’m just providing it as a perspective as to why nothing is landing. We’re just so sick and tired of it.

I've sold advertising, written and produced commercials, so I'm not a novice. You are correct that we don't have enough attention for all the stuff they are pushing. One more thing though- we dont trust them- we dont even like them- we're tired of being stolen from. Stop scamming for dolars , be upfront about the cost- do not waste my time- Appreciate your customers- Treat all of them equal. Maybe just ,maybe you'll break through. And don't text me! I hate advertisers who text me. I block them and put them on a dont buy list. We ought to have one place that belongs to us.

13-year marketing veteran here. Grew multiple companies to 9 figures. Stumbled upon this video … out of the blue. The comments here are hilarious. Evident that none of these folks have ever had to lead a team or talk revenue to a VC board.

Each & every move discussed IS the future. Offline is becoming a performance channel - most of the savvy brands have already moved on. The challenge is measuring, experimenting & improving the offline, unscalable efforts.

Thank you for putting this into words. Just added the finishing touches to my own AI-era pipeline machine. It works on many of the principles you laid out.

In a world where everyone is starting to work "smarter", working harder might be the better option.

Didn't see that coming.

Valuable vid!

Hi Alex - I've been teaching digital marketing for 18 years (uni) and your perspective is a breath of fresh air - I am inspired by your view on this and I will pass it onto my students in class (crediting you of course). Marketing through the old school channels just doesn't work anymore (I've also been practicing for a long time)
Another thing - there also seems to be a shift towards authenticity (not new I know) - but for example who listens to hypers like vaynerchuk anymore, or those noisy American 'gurus' fluffing on about the newest and greatest while flashing their lambo. People like you who are genuine and speak from a grounded place, no flashy salesey bs, seem to be bubbling to the top (I've noticed this in other topics also).

. Bless - and I wish you the best in your endevours.

Same idea applies for photography. The friction used to be cost, getting him developed, skill (since the automation wasn't yet developed), convenience (camera on every phone), etc.
Used to be a printed photograph had value, now we're drowning in a tsunami of photos.
Good video.

One of the things I like about you, is that you think deeply about things and take the time to communicate those thoughts clearly and concisely. A tedious and expensive thing I do, is to send all my VIP Clients a Christmas golf gift. Not just any gift, but a bespoke, highly crafted gift (along with a hand written note). I'm leaning in to 'old fashioned' marketing techniques and they work. Why? What you said. Honestly, I think so much time is wasted by consuming average content. For me, it's become 2-3 trusted sources and a curious, but sceptical mind. One final thought: my strategy is underpinned by my intuition, which is the antenna that guides me.

First time finding you and having a listen, it was great! You could add on that while marketing did all those things it also became far too lazy. I now own and operate a window washing service company, ‘light blue collar’ work, not true blue collar. I was a Systems and Networking Engineer for 25 years and watched AI come in a decimate the IT industry that help build it. I find the satisfaction of getting out there to potential clients and walking in their storefronts and talking with people face to face and giving them an actual printed heavy card stock postcard with my services very much wholly satisfying! The human connection was or is almost being taken away from us where more guerrilla marketing (the basics) is needed and wanted and sometimes appreciated.

Value changes over time. You are telling us that stuff that’s easy to do have lower value and stuff that’s harder to do is more valuable. You show us that our businesses have changed since a lot of stuff is easy to do so everyone does it now. Your question to us is: What can we do that not everybody else can do easy? And have a good value to the customer.

I welcome that because I love giving value to people. Now I changing my mindset from competing with AI slop to replacing a piece of AI slop with value. My value I choose to give to my customers is hard for everyone to do easy. I get it. I subscribed.

"Create new needs in an old market. And create needs, don't solve needs." - man, this hit well, Alex. Great video. Making me think deep.

    Good vid man.
I think marketing is turning from offers, funnels and overused tactics into becoming a magnetic personality.

I think Taki said "People don't buy coaching, they buy coaches" and I couldn't agree more.
Everything I've bought in the past ~5 years was because of the person behind the brand, not the offer alone.
I don't know about others but I didn't even read 70% of sales pages before I bought because i knew it's the right person to help me.
