Your advice about the conifer island has helped me immensely! Plus. Its easy to spot those locations with leaf off imagery. Last year was the highest number of deer sightings in a season i can remember. A balsam island with a big primary scrape was the ticket.

That is the first time I’ve ever heard why there is a primary scrape in an area. Makes total sense. I’ve looked for these and have never found one. I do live in Southern NH.

I love your content. Very good information. What I would love to see is when you describe what to look for on an aerial view, to show examples on maps of what that might look like.

The best buck attractant is does... myself I put out a trophy rock in the early spring and set up a good mineral site because the winters are long, and these are nutrients and minerals that does have missed all winter long. No especially they need as much as they can, especially pregnant does they need to pass the nutrients on to the young, and when the fawns are around they will hit these site hard, I will top up yhe site mid to late summer, the key is to keep the does and the fawns around as long as possible, around here we can bait, so I will put some feed out starting in the early fall, eith the goal to keep the ladies around until the rut, because that's when the boys start sniffing around.
