  Funny how most guns designs mentioned here are ,,Lets make CQC rifle, Marksman rifle and Machine gun into a one weapon " I wonder why it fails every time.

  The Krummlauf (the round-corners rifle) always gets me — WWII was full of these desperate, bizarre designs. But the line between "insane failure" and "brilliant secret weapon" was thin. The Welrod looked just as ridiculous — basically a metal pipe with a grip — and everyone assumed it was junk, right up until they realised it could kill a man silently in a crowded room. Sometimes the stupid-looking one was the deadliest.

  The concept of the gyrojet is so cool, but having a pistol that doesn't work at close range is just hilarious.

  Clicked on the video for the pancor jackhammer. But I have to correct you on a detail. The pancor jackhammer was designed to be the next military automatic shotgun. That's correct. After testing, the reliability and reloading was an issue. That's correct. However, the shotgun that the defense department went with, was the AA-12 as it's full auto version was not only more reliable, it allowed the user to load multiple different types of ammunition while still feeding properly.

  The Pancor Jackhammer did Not need to be disassembled to reload! This is a very common misconception mostly because of the ForgottenWeapons video about it where he does have to take apart the stock. However, Ian specifically says (multiple times) that this model was an early cutting room floor prototype that the inventor kept for himself. The model that went to trials had an improved reload mechanism. According to the original 1984 and 1987 patents, the magazine was released by first pulling the pump forward (putting the cylinder in "half cock") and pulling the trigger to release.

  That Mars automatic was the best sidearm in BF1 if you were sniping. If the initial sniper round only got them to around 25, a single shot from the Mars finished them off clean and simple
