I bought a 2000 Toyota Corolla in 2014 for $2k and THANK GOD I did cuz I have no idea how I'd stay afloat if I had a $700 car payment on top of everything else I have to pay for. She's still running great. Only maybe one or two large repairs needed in the 10 years I've had her. She's got other little things going on that don't effect how the car runs, but Out of the 2 cars I've had in my life she's by far the best. Take care of an older, well made car and it'll be in your life for a very very long time.

All my financial apps are in a folder labeled "escape 9-5" so I see every day. It's also the label on my journal

I'm a new listener. What I love is that you don't waste my time with an unnecessary intro. You just jump right in with the important information... thanks so much.

Good to see you again, Rose! I watched so many videos of yours back in 2020 as I was first starting to earn real money, and am so grateful!

Just wanted to give an extra thanks for the tone, positivity, and reality of this video. Freedom over depravation. And being serious about money also doesn't mean we all have to work against some imaginary clock to be multimillionaires by 35. Financial freedom should supoort our life and goals, not control it ❤

The message at the end was so needed. Cuz I’ll really try to save 90% of my funds and deprive myself of living. It’s not fun

Hi Rose. We are still not caught up on credit cards but I FINALLY got step 0 handled. Finally. Praise God. I just got a salaried position as my cash cow. My husband had to quit his… because we need to move. But he’s determined to find another one. So we will be double set for step 0 and can work more toward the next steps. I’ve held on to your video here and want to thank you for laying out a roadmap with your smarts.

Just paid off all debt including our home 🎉. Now to work on a fully funded emergency fund. We are already contributing 15 percent to our 501k and have an HSA.

It's not how much you make, but how you manage it. I realized that even high earners can retire broke, while modest income earners can build wealth. Living below your means, adopting a frugal lifestyle, and consistently investing are the foundations of financial freedom. After 10 years of disciplined saving and investing, I celebrated hitting $2 million last year. Now, I'm cheering on everyone striving for financial independence. Remember, financial freedom requires ongoing effort, but the peace of mind is priceless.

Step 1 (Tracking) is where 90% of people fail. You can't optimize what you don't measure. And the point about keeping your fundamental costs below 50-60% is the absolute foundation of reaching FIRE. Once you have a clear system to track that ratio every month, hitting the rest of these milestones becomes a mathematical certainty, not just a guess. Great roadmap!

Hi Rose. We just had a huge setback. My husband’s car is gone in short. He is okay. But we haven’t told our family yet. We don’t know how much it will cost to get a car he can use for work. But I pray we can find something safe and get back on track. We won’t meet our goal this year, but it made me proud to have a savings when this devastating event occurred. I couldn’t believe it Rose. Anyway, we are okay and we wont give up. We worked so hard to have the emergency fund that we won’t break because of this emergency. So I’m very proud even if a bit sad by the setback.
