I can’t believe it’s been 40 years!
This movie never gets old.
Definitely in my top three favorite movies of all time.
The scenery and soundtrack are second to none!

This "quiet film" still echoes 40 years on. One of those films that I'll stop and watch if it's on TV, however many times I've seen it.

Without doubt a big part of the success of this film is Mark Knopfler's soundtrack especially during the end sequences.

After listening to the interviews by crew and actors, my conclusion is; What a brilliant bunch of people was assembled to make this gorgeous, unforgettable film, and how lucky we are that this happened. I only wish this making of mentioned how Mark Knopfler was brought into this production, because the music was so vital to the mood of the film.

I just watched this movie last night for the 1000th time. I smile every time at the last scene where the phone box is ringing. Great film.

Truly one of the best films ever - or, at least one of my top favorites. :) Everyone should see this movie.

And not one mention of how the soundtrack will carry this movie's appeal forever!! Mark Knopfler's genius is the cherry on the top of an endearing enduring movie

"The minor planet '7345 Happer' is named after Lancaster's character in the film and his quest to have a comet named after him."

Local Hero is such a gem... understated and brilliant. One of my favorite scenes- "Who's baby is it?".... absolute gold!!!!
