The glaring weakness for BYU on defense is the safety position. Others would maybe be defensive line due to the lack of pass rush. Offensively I don’t think they have any weaknesses.

If I was commissioner:
Seven 11 team conferences (Josh Pate talked about this, maintain rivalries and regionality but I’d add one team to his 10 team conferences and no independents)
Every team plays 10 conference games
Winner of each conference goes to a seven team playoff with #1 seed getting a first round bye.
2 assigned P4 non-conference games
(Why are p4s even playing FCS??)
This way you could have awesome non-conference games and even if you lose both, you can still win your conference and go to the playoff. Awesome rivalries, true conf champs, no dumb games, no politics!

Require the school that cancels a game to pay the school dropped plus an automatic drop in all polls.

BYU has a very good team. However, there are a few things that BYU needs to tune up and to improve. There were too many penalties during the CSU game. There were too many missed tackles. BYU needs more consistent smart physical play at the safety position. The defense needs to be more dominant, more disruptive and to get more turnovers. BYU needs to stay focused and stay very hungry with all of this praise coming their way. some missed tackles.

College needs a true preseason and that’s where the FCS teams play the power teams they don’t count against record they don’t count against eligibility, larger, rosters, etc.

The Reason BYU is getting disrespected this year is because they are on Notre Dames schedule. Any team that ND plays gets the FCS treatment. This is how the media protects the illusion that ND plays nobody.

Use a sophisticated AI system to completely eliminate the human bias that prevails in current polls. With the advent of NIL and financial backing most players spread the talent pool as well as so called manipulation of star rating amongst the power conferences. Over the upcoming years the lower ranked leagues and school will catch up with the so-called blue bloods.
