  Harry didn't want to inherit Kreature, but releasing him was dangerous to everyone in the Order of The Phoenix. If not for that, Harry would've set him free.

  There’s an alternate explanation I like, from a fanfic chapter that was written before JKR officially explained the background of the Potter family fortune. In the story, Professor McGonagall, instead of Hagrid, escorts Harry on his first visit to Diagon Alley, and they have this bit of dialogue in Harry’s vault:<br><br>Harry wheeled from the giant heap of money. &quot;Pardon me for asking, Professor McGonagall, but I understand that my parents were in their twenties when they died. Is this a <i>usual</i> amount of money for a young couple to have in their vault, in the wizarding world?&quot; If it was, a cup of tea probably cost five thousand pounds.   Even though the goblins created silver pieces, it should never revert back to them at the death of the owner. There’s no way they would be entrusted with a bank if they followed through with that philosophy. In the wizarding world and even the muggle world, one’s fortune is passed to the person of their choosing. So none of Harry’s fortune belonged to the goblins. Maybe that idea would be enforced within goblin society but not among powerful wizards and witches who accumulated generations of wealth.

  One Wrong statement is that Kretcher was human, he was an Elf, a House Elf to be accurate. You want to MESS with a House Elf &apos;s psyche, look at the Crouch family House Elf Winky, she was fined by the Crouch &apos;s and became an alcoholic. Kretcher changes to be nicer when Harry starts treating him like someone who has real feelings even though Kretcher is still technical a slave.

  I never understood why DumbOldBore put him in with relatives who hated him and &apos;magic&apos; &nbsp;Are there no foster homes in magicaland? &nbsp;Not to mention, so many &quot;muggles (I hate that word, it sounds nasty) know of Hogwarts, how can this be such a secret? &nbsp;And isn&apos;t that APARTHEID? &nbsp; &nbsp;so many plotholes. &nbsp;She had one story in her, and padded it out with a lot of filler, she is a genius at marketing. &nbsp;Respect for her standing up for women, but she is not much of a writer, IMO.
