I don't think Slovakia is underrated. It's not as popular as Austria or Slovenia but the High Tatras are full of people during the summer, mainly with local tourists + Hungarian and Polish tourists. Bardejov is really empty due it's location but the other places are not. I think you just made a good choice to visit them off-season. I'm Hungarian, living in Budapest and for me, Slovakia is an easy and familiar choice, even for daytrips.

One of the things every expat living in Bratislava says - it is incredibly safe compared to western cities. We don't really have a lot of violent crimes. It is also one of the greenest cities in Europe with woods within the inner perimeter of the city.

It is not underrated, but rarely promoted. As a Slovak I wish that it would be shown to the world much more often. By our people, not by tourists only.

We have Big mountains like: Veľka Fatra,Malá Fatra,Vysoké Tatry,Nízke Tatry and ore and more and the biggest of them all is Gerlachovský štít that is 2 655 meters tall.From Žilina.

Wasn't the biggest fan of Bratislava, but fell in love with the eastern part of the country around Kosice.
