  Just a note that "Ahoj!" is really quite informal, and best reserved for casual settings with people you know, otherwise it might be seen as a bit rude. "Dobry den" is more appropriate in shops and restaurants and with strangers.

  Speaking of ATMs, avoid the Euronet ATMs at all costs!

  If anything stay in Bratislava and travel in to Vienna for visiting. You will save a tonne of money in flights and hotels. Bratislava airport is also one of the most stress free airports I've ever visited.

  Stayed here on first trip to Europe, loved it, make sure you walk away from the old town with the river behind you into the locals area of the city. Gives you a real look at the city. I did learn some Slovak words and have used them here in New Zealand when I have come across people from Slovakia. Bratislava would be in my top 2 best cities in Europe along with Tallinn. Well worth a visit.

  Random tips from a local:<br><br>1. Stary most bridge (the green one next to Eurovea shopping mall) is a perfect spot for sunset photos.<br>Also for tram photos, if that’s your mojo 😊<br><br>2. There is a cat cafe just a few minutes walk from Bratislava castle 🐱🐱🐱<br><br>3. My favourite place in the area is Danubiana - a museum of modern arts, situated on the shores of a nearby water reservoir.<br>Getting there by a public transport is a bit meh, it is a good destination for a bike trip though.

  Bratislava isn&apos;t a daytrip from Vienna, Vienna is a daytrip (or two) from Bratislava with great hotels at brilliant prices and outstanding places to have dinner. This is actually in my top 5 European cities, especially for its size. The casual vibe and friendly locals won me over. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClVtxVdXFjI&amp;t=577">9:37</a> I spent hours in this place eating sausage and drinking beer with an occasional cream cake thrown in.
