These Are the BEST Knitting Needles I’ve Used...and I Can’t Replace Them

I have several brands, but I needed a full set of interchangeable needles and could not afford Chiaogoo. I have a small set of Knitter's Pride Zing 4 inch and like them a lot. Then I discovered that Knitter's Pride, Knit Pro, Lykke, and Lantern Moon are all produced by the same company and ALL of their cords can go on ALL of their needles 3 mm and up! Anything smaller and they go into Stelo and need very small cords. To me, they are the best thing I have ever tried.

I am fortunate to have Signature needles in all sizes, various barrel lengths and, of course, all lengths of cords. They are simply exquisite. Just heard Chiaogoo bought the machining rights and are bringing them back! Hooray! I dread breaking accord and rendering my current ones useless.

If they put Chiaogoo red lace cords with Signature stilettos I’m going into orbit, figuratively speaking😊

I have two sets of Hiya Hiya Sharps; regular and sock sizes. I absolutely love them. The points are so sharp. The cables swivel. I have been known to puncture a finger from time to time when knitting socks with my 2mm needles. Cables are pretty good, I like them better than Chiagoos. I have broken some Hiya Hiya and Chiagoo needles at the join, all of which were replaced free of charge. I'm thinking I should probably use a longer cable for my magic loop socks. 😂

You can use an adapter on all sizes of Chiaogoo interchangeable tips to put them on the much thinner mini twist cables which have all the ‘no memory’ advantages of the standard red twist cables but are flexible enough for magic loop. I do it all the time.

I bought a set of Signature straights and a few circulars for myself to celebrate my retirement from work. They are, without question, worth the price. I’ve probably bought every needle known to mankind and these are the superior best. I hope the new owners will live up to the standard of the past

Thanks Nicole. The more I knit the more I become aware of the challenges that just arise because of the needles I’m using. So I love listening to you speaking to some of those challenges. Thank you for such a comprehensive conversation! 🤗

Based on what you said in your video, I think you should try hiyahiyas. It’s hard to see the size of the needles, true, but they are very smooth and sharp and the cables are very flexible. The joins are excellent and swivel. One thing I do a lot is change needle size while leaving my stitches on the cable. But another thing I do is swap cables often as my work changes size, using cable adapters. The small size adapters also work to go between hiyahiya and chiaogoos. If I need a cable or needle in one set that I don’t have in the one I am using, it’s easy to move my work over. I also really love chiaogoo, but not their version of the swivel cable. It catches my yarn at the join. Fortunately they are releasing adapters to convert their static cables to swivel, and these don’t cause me any trouble. One more reason to love hiyahiya is that they make extensions for the length of needles so you can make them longer anytime you want. And finally, a trick you can’t do with your favorites is using a smaller needle on the left, which speeds up stitches flowing off the needle. Thank you for your work in knitting education. I love your videos. Sienna

I've been knitting for over 50 years. A lot of needles have hit the trash bin in that length of time. I'm a Chiao Goo kid - all the way. I bought my original set in 2019 and have added to it over the past five years: cables, tips, add-ons. Nothing has ever broken. The cloth case has held up to lots of international travel, daily use, and - maybe even a little abuse. Still going strong. A win!!

I’m a fan of wood needles (I know most people are not, but I truly prefer them to metal) and my favorites by far are Lykke. They work for everything except lace, where I want a sharper tip. I like the feel, the control, and the overall experience with them. I understand why people like metal, but for me, the wood is just what I reach for.

Zings are awesome! The cords, the tips, the grab or no-grab- they seem to work nicely. I have the fixed circulars, but want the full set of the interchangeables.
