There was a crow that was causing destruction around my dad’s property so he shot at it to try to scare it away. After that, the crow pooped on the driver’s side door handle of my dad’s car every morning for months.

My neighbor has chickens - five, I think at that time. I had tiny wild strawberries growing in a certain patch of my yard and every afternoon, I would walk out back, pick as many of the little strawberries as I could hold and toss them over the fence to the chickens. About the third day, whichever chicken was on the side of the yard that saw me started squawking and running to the fence. With that 'notification', the rest would run to the fence to get strawberries. Around the second week of this little daily routine, one of the chickens was watching me but didn't do the standard squawking to call the rest of them. I didn't think anything about it. I tossed the little strawberries over, figuring the others would come shortly, then I got on with my yard work. This happened three days in a row before I realized that this particular chicken had figured out if she kept quiet she could have her pick up the strawberries before any of the others knew they were available. Almost every single day for several weeks that particular chicken was the only one in the corner by the fence when I came around the house and stopped to gather strawberries... So... I know the chicken figured out to keep quiet so she could have first dibs on the strawberries, but how did she figure out the timing to be the only one standing in that corner to see me come into the backyard every day ? maybe she knew the sound of my car when I pulled in the driveway from work and then gave me 15 minutes to change clothes before I came outside ... who knows ... but I have no doubt I was watching intelligence at work ...

I once watched a dog open a cupboard, pull out a box of Twinkies, spend 20 minutes hiding each individual package, then sit down to open and eat the last one in the box. I was so amazed by it I did nothing to stop it.

🍓i had a shaggy cat who, one summer, we shaved to reduce his obvious heat stress. the next year, he dragged the clippers into the hall, and then cooperated with another shave to 3mm of fur. he also liked wet tubs... and pizza and booze. He once closed the box of pizza after stealing the toppings. he seemed to understand a few dozen words... made it to 19 when thyroid disease took him.

23:50 When I was a kid I was riding my bike home from school when a crow started to get really angry. My helmet was black and they took it for another crow, I stopped and looked at them, said it was a helmet, knocked on it, and I swear I heard the crow say, “Oh.” And was chill afterwards.

In my old house, I used to set leftovers, stale bread, etc., out for the neighborhood crows. I'd put them on the railing of my deck. After a while, they started bringing me coins and jewelry, placing them on the same spot on the railing. Sometimes they'd sit with me when I was outside. When my ex was outside, though, they'd dive bomb him and I swear they would giggle. They also took group dumps on his car multiple times. They started doing this less than a month after we moved in. So they're smarter than me because I stayed with the guy for almost fifteen years before I realized he deserved group dumps on his car.

My cat can tell time, I swear, because whenever I am awake past midnight, she pesters me until I go to bed... it is useful because I do lose track of time, and she reminds me

I grew up in the country. We had a few animals. I was out hitting a ball with a bat and the ball went into the pigs' pen. A pig comes running up, as I was the food-bringer, while I was climbing in. It seemed to figure out that I was in there to get the ball and snatched it up. I tried to get the ball from its mouth as the pig kept it out of my reach. And then it flung the ball back out of the pen. I'm pretty sure I heard it laughing at me as I climbed out, covered in pig "mud"...

I was walking after class, when randomly heard a branch snap. Turned around, there was a crow on it that crashed to ground. It was surprised and after hopping around for a few minutes, sadly died. Then virtually all crows on the entire campus gathered on the trees, and cawed. They knew it was an accident, and though they weren't thrilled I was sticking around the crow funeral, at least they didn't blame me, I just happened to be nearby. Clearly, they were upset and mourning. But they only go after the responsible people, which I find fascinating.

Wasps are flying balls of rage. I hate them, but I understand how they feel.
