Shocked that having a 9 year old operator wasn't the root problem. Thought it was gonna be like "the 9 year old was a 9 year old and thats actually a bad idea." But nah, kid did his part.

experience means nothing if you've been doing it wrong the whole time

That poor kid. They should have never been put in that position. Imagine the trauma that child has been through.

The first death NOT being because they have a literal child working a big rotating death trap has to be one of the biggest plot twists of all time

The second incident feels like a nightmare... especially with the friend just wanting to help and dying for it. I can't imagine how the operator felt afterwards or the customers asking questions.

God, what an awful death to happen. Just an employee trying to help out late in the night getting killed due to poor operation practices.

What tragic accidents and both were entirely preventable. Imagine accidentally killing someone you considered a friend because you failed to follow safety rules that YOU wrote.

I hope that kid knows it's not their fault. They're literally just a child, never should have been put in that position to begin with, and it's not their fault that the ride was moved before it was safe. I guess I'm glad that rider in particular wasn't killed.

It's incomprehensible to me, that after the first accident, they would not set up a way to communicate when it was safe to operate the ride. I know they had a "lot of experience" working with each other, but clearly that didn't prevent the first accident. Yet they continue with that same mindset....leading to a second, and more devastating, accident. Smh.

Why the hell was a 9-year-old allowed to work the ride?

I've been a car loader on a Zipper in the past. No 9 year old should have been working those doors. They are a PITA. When ride was in motion we stood in the control operator's area, well out of harm's way.
