The vocals seem exceptionally well placed with the Opticons.

After several listening sessions comparing the Sonik 7 and the Opticon 6 MKII—both paired with a Yamaha R-N1000A amplifier—I bought the Opticons

I've just bought a pair of Sonic 7s. Initial impressions were very disappointing with everything sounding flat and restricted. But after only three hours use they suddenly came alive and sounded like the pair I'd heard in the dealer's demo room - fantastic - and if the literature is to be believed, they won't become fully mature until they've run for about 90 hours. So, I'm very happy I bought them. I haven't owned floor standing speakers for over 40 years so I've spent a long time with bookshelf units. What has impressed me most with the 7s is that you can hear the very real sounding thump of a bass drum and then - nothing - if there is no more extended bass in the music you simply won't hear any. My previous floorstanders (showing my age here) was a pair of Celestion Ditton 44s with 12" bass units; you'd get the initial thump alright (albeit a bit woolly), but the whole bottom end of the sound spectrum was then filled with muddy boominess that wasn't really present in the recording. I'm seriously impressed, even if I did end up spending over double my initial intentions.

You need to lower the volume of the background music, it's way to loud
