Yet, after a short while, no matter how hard you try, you will no longer be able to smell it. This is a life-saving mechanism of the nose: if there were a dangerous smell—such as gas leaking from the stove—you would notice it immediately. This happens because the nose filters out the background scents you have been breathing for so long and focuses only on new odors so as not to distract you, making it easier to detect distinct new smells. In doing so, it saves your life. The nose is truly amazing! ✨

  I had the horrible luck of being right in front a teachers pet and a crash out!! These two were mortal enemies, and I was right in front of them and I could just hear them bickering nonstop they made math hell.
