The horse racing industry in PA receives a larger subsidy than what SEPTA is asking for

As someone who rides Regional Rail almost daily, especially back home in the evening, this would be absolutely devastating. I live in Picozzi's district too, and already sent 3 things to him about the crisis.

It sounds like the same arguments used for privatizing Amtrak…that it is “inefficient” and that the private sector would be “efficient.”

But Amtrak, like SEPTA, formed because there were private companies, and it didn’t work!

People making transit decisions need to be more knowledgeable about transit history. It would save a lot of anxiety and a lot of cuts. And it would spare us of so much of this talk around private companies and transit.

Every $1 invested in public transportation yields $5 in economic value. SEPTA and every other public transit agency IS profitable

Watch the freeways get more congested if this happens. Watch the politicians decide "one more lane is needed." Just fund SEPTA, Philadelphia, it's not rocket science.

Frequency is absolute the key for SEPTAs success. You have such an asset with the Center City Commuter Connector, with those 4 tracks you could run every single line every 15 Minutes and still have some capacity to spare.
Amtrak could sell the two outer tracks on the North East Corridor (and the Keystone where there are 4 Tracks) with a 15 Minute frequency on all lines, there would be no need for Amtrak to ever stop in between of Wilmington, Philly and Trenton. A frequent SEPTA on the outside tracks would make that obsolete.

Very well put. I hope that the PA Senate can realize the terrible, permanent effects that disinvestment in all of the state's agencies would have. Even those places with a one-line system are essential services!

I work for a smaller bus company that's funded the same way as SEPTA. Without that funding, they're talking about cutting night runs, which is sad because a lot of people use the bus at night. Even when I drive the last bus of the day, it's usually at least half full.

In your video you mentioned about Pittsburgh eliminating the red line of the light rail. The red line is not gonna be eliminated. It would be the silver line that would be eliminated.
Service on the red line, however, would be dramatically reduced
