F.H.E. had a weird history with Robotech on VHS, these are the budget versions recorded in EP mode but only the Macross sage was released with all of it's 36 episodes spread out to 6 episodes per tape but the drawback was that a lot of footage was horribly edited out whether it was either to make them as a "mini" movie style or for economical reasons.

The editing is so baffling. The ad at the end of the video says that the 36 episodes long Macross Saga was sold in 6 volumes. 6 episodes of Robotech can easily fit on one tape to make six volumes. Especially after cutting the "coming up next" segments and only keeping one opening and closing credits.

It's like they wanted to give themselves more work and make the show worse. So happy we aren't dependent on those kind of of expensive (79.95 in the late 80'/early 90's ouch) and truncated home video release of television series.

I had bought the entire set all 6 tapes from Books Nippan mail order in 1989. At the time it was the only way to watch it. I still own those tapes today. Good times back then , the early days of collecting Anime !!! The episode of Rick and Minmay trapped in the SDF 1 was highly edited the most !!!

Some important scenes where cut too. They made the transitions easier. Those cut parts made the story easier to follow. I owned a lot of ROBOTECH videos.

Call me crazy, but I still prefer the original sound effects to the remastered version.
