  As an ex crim from South Australia &nbsp;(been out 10+yrs) <br> I can say that the prisons are very similar to this. Australia put a lot into rehabilitation &amp; that&apos;s how it should be. Your still locked away with your freedom taken from you. No matter what, people are either going to change or they won&apos;t<br> The US have high rates of inmate&apos;s getting out &amp; going back due to the way the system is set up. You get out &amp; have little chance of getting a job or finding somewhere to live so what are people going to do to survive. Go back to what they were doing before, committing crimes. At least in Australia we have programs for ex offenders &amp; parolees leaving prison. If you want a second chance you need to stay straight &amp; the system should be there to assist &amp; support. If you don&apos;t look after the community, it falls apart. Thank goodness I&apos;m an Aussie. No offence

  Prison is meant to be about losing your freedom, not being dehumanised where you are actually worse when you get out I&apos;d rather have someone rehabilitated living next door not someone who has been dehumanised.

  Love the reform of the prison system to cater more towards rehabilitation. Really proud of Austalia on this one.

  I was physically and emotionally abused by women growing up as a child and teenager. They all should have been sent to prison and not treated like they were special because of having children or a mental illness. All those women had made choices in their past lives. What about the victims who are emotionally damaged and traumatized today?

  I&apos;m really happy that Australia is finally developing their prison systems! For too long, inmates have been punished and not rehabilitated.
