My biggest takeaway here is that on top of the mainstream reasoning that 'the Communist Party's legitimacy depends on delivering continued economic results to its people', the Party also sees the need to 'defeat Western liberalism because "its prosperity, its existence, its survival is challenging my legitimacy'.... Are we liberal democrats realising this?

I have realized that Singaporean thought leaders are literally the only people capable of accurate and neutral analysis of ANYTHING related to China. Everyone else simply do not possess the genetic quality to do so.

Reforms are always needed in all countries.. Look how western countries decline in the past decades because they did not and could not have political reforms. The so called western democratic system (plutocratic in reality) does not work, as we have seen from inept leaders there. Westerners should focus at their own domestic problems instead of pointing finger at others. China is still doing far better than US, UK, Canada, EU, Australia and New Zealand.

Free Trade will be possible as before Communist China accepted into WTO without Democracy. Unsustainable&Unbalance trading among nations with opposite governing systems or between Democratic polar and Non-Democratic polar proved to be unmaintainable. Fixing the situation now seems only possible with Nationalism/AmericaFirst. Thailand where I am need to think ThailandFirst in order to survive. Currently Thailand is flood with every major goods from China. We are buying too much from China and big unbalancing trading value and debt. What can we do but protect our economy by being more Nationalism?

It is amusing to hear all these Asia Society China nay sayers. They project West’s world view on China - dominate and exploit, and ignore what CCP says as to national goals which is self reliance and development and sweep aside its progress such as leading in 70% of science and technology fields, graduating more STEM students than rest of the world combined, an infrastructure far advance than rest of the world. These folks are in an echo chamber and indulging in self deluding analysis divorced from facts.

Asia Society inviting a con man to speak there is embarrassing. Yet again, they’ve proven how little they actually understand about China.

Don’t be surprise about China growth. No need to spend time on development new knowledge, they just copy or steal through whatever way they can.
