As a West Flemish native speaker, Afrikaans is very understandable. I remember a guest professor (German) who gave a lecture in Afrikaans once in our uni. It was awesome! Hearing Afrikaans makes me always smile, it’s a cute language that just gives good vibes to a Belgian Dutch speaker - West Flemish speaker.

As a Belgian a have to add thad we also use many french words. The difference between portemonnee and portefeuille is what you put in. Monnaie are coins and feuille is paper leaf.

Michaela was so great at representing the proper (formal and traditional) Afrikaans language - different from participants before that would offer more colloquial (slang or mixed language) Afrikaans. Loved the video!
