  A million people wandering around Sinai without leaving a trace is one of the preposterous claims in exodus.

  And why did these 'slaves' have so much gold that they could make sooo much stuff? Ark, tabernacle, alter, incense stand, calf, . . .  And working gold needs a fire stronger than a camp fire. And then later, in Numbers, they need more gold for lamps and dishes and a lot of silver too.

  Since we know that the early Israelites named their children after Canaanite deities, it seems more likely that they were Canaanites. King Saul’s son and successor, Ish-bosheth, was originally named Eshbaal (or Ishbaal), which means "man of Baal" or "Baal exists."

  The single biggest problem with any group&apos;s ability to &quot;escape&quot; from &quot;Egypt&quot; by traveling into the Sinai Peninsula is that the Sinai Peninsula was Egyptian territory from the Old Kingdom (starting c. 2700 BCE) until around the fall of the 26th Dynasty to the Persians in 525 BCE! During those 2000 years (including during the two &quot;intermediate&quot; periods), the Sinai was replete with Egyptian fortresses, caravan routes, and mining communities! The political conditions the Torah&apos;s Exodus story was written about solely reflect those starting during the Hellenistic period! The Exodus &quot;story&quot; was more plausible during the Roman period, when the Sinai was separate from Egypt, incorporated into something called &quot;Arabia Felix,&quot; <i>Blessed Arabia.</i>

  In the late Bronze Age, Canaan was part of Egypt. Over a couple of centuries Egypt lost control of Canaan. People were freed from Egyptian control without taking a single step. But that&apos;s not a very exciting story.

  There were also a lot of foreigners in Egypt at the time. If all these catastrophes and other happenings actually occurred, all at nearly the same time, they would have recorded this, taken the oral stories elsewhere, there would have been some records of some kind somewhere.

  When I was deconstructing from being a born and raised Jehovah&apos;s Witness, I was blow away that at the time of the &quot;Exodus&quot;. They would have just moved to another part of the Egyptian Empire as &quot;Israel&quot; was part of the Dynasty for hundreds of years after the &quot;Exodus&quot;.

  Why would a trip so short take so long? I mean, walking around 300 miles taking 40 years?! I think it&apos;s more unbelievable that people actually believe this story is true.
